18 Jan, 2012 10:53 AM
IN a sparkling ensemble of a white and silver tailed suit and top hat, Sean Hendry knows all about entertaining in style.

This year the familiar face will host the Australia Day celebrations at Mollymook Beach Reserve.

Ebony wins coaches award

The Ulladulla Gymnastics Club will be holding its registration day on Friday, February 1 at the Ulladulla High School hall between 3.30-4.30pm.
Both existing gymnasts re-enrolling and those interested in enrolling for the fist time in 2008 are invited to attend the registration day.
The Ulladulla Gymnastics Club Inc provides sequenced programs for greater learning which is provided under the supervision of friendly, qualified instructors who are Gymnastics Australia Accredited.

The program includes Kindergym, Pre-levels, Levels and Trampolining. Gymnastics is a fantastic sport for children to participate in. It promotes strength, co-ordination and flexibility and enhances motor skill development.  Gymnastics classes, including Kindergym, will commence from the week starting Monday, February 4.

The Ulladulla Gymnastics Club is run by a committee of volunteer parents and coaches. The next committee meeting is to be held at 10.30am on Thursday, January 31 at 37 Edward Ave, Kings Point and, any parents who are interested in becoming involved in the running of the club, are invited to attend.

Ulladulla gymnasts in fine form for State Championships

23 Jun, 2010 12:57 PM
THE recent competition held at Nowra on June 6 saw all the girls that entered automatically qualify for the State Championships that are to be held in August at the Sydney Olympic Centre at Homebush.

A recent change in format of achievements means that the girls experienced a different way of seeing their results and are now more focused on 'personal bests'.

In Levels 1-3 the girls are awarded ribbons for achieving a score within a certain score range on each apparatus and all round.

Level 4-10 will receive ribbons for score ranges also.

In Level 4-10 only the top three places for each apparatus will be awarded gold, silver or bronze medals, but not for all round scores.

Rodney's award benefits gymnasts

13 Apr, 2011 10:31 AM
THE Ulladulla Gymnastics Club will be able to purchase some much-needed new equipment thanks to local NRMA patrolman, Rodney Conlan.

As reported previously in the Times, Mr Conlan was recently recognised with an Extra Mile Award for his efforts in rescuing a Callala Bay man stuck on the road to Pigeon House Mountain.

Welcome back to all our gymnasts and coaches to Ulladulla Gymnastics Club.

It looks to be an exciting year, with many new faces joining the club, and two new coaches for our Tuesday classes.

Rodney's rescue wins Extra Mile Award

02 Mar, 2011 12:07 PM
RODNEY Conlan's smiling face is almost as easily recognisable as his distinctive NRMA patrol vehicle.

To countless locals and visitors, it is Rodney who comes to their rescue when facing car troubles, offering not only great service, but a big smile along with it.

22 Dec, 2010 11:49 AM
Members of the Ulladulla Gymnastics Club provided an amazing variety of skills and techniques at the 2010 display and presentation day.

Gymnasts gave a sample of their competition routines and also a spectacular acrobatics and tumbling performance.

New class for young kids

17 Feb, 2010 12:15 PM
WELCOME back to our regular gymnasts and coaches and a big welcome to all the new eager faces that have joined us at gymnastics.

With the new year comes a new class and new coaches

The new Tuesday Recreational class will be held between 4pm and 5pm.

This class is being run by the club's two newest coaches, Alyssa Moore and Khari Stapleton.

Both girls recently travelled to Sydney to complete their Gym NSW Accreditation course.

Alyssa and Khari bring a wealth of experience to the gymnastics coach team, as both girls have grown from Kindergym through the levels programs to become the talented gymnasts that they are today.

Alyssa follows circus dream

17 Nov, 2010 12:01 PM
BURRILL Lake's Alyssa Moore won't have to run away from home to fulfil her dream of one day joining the circus.

The 17-year-old's hopes of performing with the internationally-acclaimed Cirque du Soleil have received a significant boost with her acceptance into the National Institute of Circus Arts in Melbourne.

Alyssa, who finished her schooling at Ulladulla High School this year, will commence the three-year course in January.

Gymnasts rock regionals

02 Dec, 2009 10:37 AM
On November 7 and 8, the South Coast Regional Championships were held at the Nowra SCYC.

All the local gymnasts performed well on the day, showing their efforts with some deserved placings.

Representing level one were Alysha Sawyer, Ella Conlon, Skye Pyemont, Felicia Auer, Cassandra Fortune, Emma Graham, Chloe Lappin and, special mention to Amy Dorrell, who was competing as a first timer.

Level two was represented by Samantha Sawyer.

Level three gymnasts were Saskia Auer, Sonia Wallington, Lauren Wilson and Lilly Boland.

Emily eyes circus

28 Jan, 2009 01:38 PM
When she was finishing up school at the end of last year one of her friends wrote her a message – ‘Emily, you are a clown. Or you should be’.

That message, as it so happens, holds as much portent for Emily as the couple of uni offers she now has on the table.

Emily Collins, raised in Milton, graduate of Ulladulla High School Class of 2008, isn’t running away but she does plan to join the circus.

Lilly scores state silver

01 Oct, 2008 12:41 PM
Ulladulla gymnast Lilly Boland overcame illness to compete and take out a silver medal at the recent NSW State Championships for Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG).

Lilly, who battled a virus in the lead up to the state championships, travelled to the Northern Beaches Sports Centre on September 20, to represent the South Coast region for the second consecutive year. Her team competed against the top 52 level 2b junior gymnasts in the State. The South Coast team scored high enough to beat eight other regions in the state and take out second place, earning silver medals for all the team members.

Lilly, who trains at the Ulladulla Gymnastics Club under WAG coaches Rachel Moore, Carol Sawyer, Kate Chapman and Natalie Stapleton, has been able to achieve her goal of representing the South Coast region and competing at state championship level through the dedication and skill of these coaches who give up their time to train, mentor, support and motivate the squad of levels gymnasts, who compete in the Women's Artistic Gymnastics' levels program (WAG).

Good luck to Alyssa Moore who is competing at the WAG 4-6 state trials at the Sydney Olympic Centre at Homebush on October 12.

Well done to Ashleigh Tomasini who competed at the recent Tramp state championships at CCYC.

The club will be holding trampolining clinics during the school holidays on Monday, September 29, and Monday, October 6, between 3-5pm. To

book a place, contact trampolining coach Sean Hendry on 4455 3418.

Upcoming dates for future competition are the Regional WAG Championships which are to be held at Nowra SCYC Gymnastics on November 22 and 23.

We look forward to seeing all gymnasts again next term. Get ready for lots of hard work preparing for the end of year display, which is set for Sunday, December 14.

The club still has vacancies for its kindergym classes, which are held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10am at Milton showground. Vacancies are

also available for the recreational classes on Monday and Tuesday evenings.

For enquiries regarding these classes, please contact Sue Whitford on 4455 5925.

Coaches can be contacted directly for any inquiries regarding gymnastics, kindergym and recreational gymnastics Sue Whitford 4455 5925; pre-levels and levels gymnastics Rachel Moore 4455 1408; boys gymnastics Kevin Whitford 4455 5925 and trampolining Sean Hendry 4455 3418.

Helping Out

Helpers are very much appreciated at the end of the classes to assist the coaches with putting away the equipment.

Ulladulla Gymnastics Club is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers and there is always room for any parents who may like to lend a hand in the organising and running of the club.
